Dear Colleagues and Friends,

 

Since its founding in 2018, the Thai Society of Human Genetics has grown through the dedication and vision of those who came before me. Having assumed the presidency in August 2024, I carry forward both a legacy and aspirations shared by dedicated predecessors whose commitment and steady leadership laid the foundation for who we are today.

Human genetics is a field that continues to evolve at remarkable pace. What once resided at the edges of possibility now informs how we understand health, identity and human diversity. Amid such rapid progress, our society serves as a place not only of scientific exchange but of thoughtful reflection—where knowledge is advanced with care and where ethical, legal and social considerations remain central to our work.

Our mission is both enduring and dynamic: to nurture a learned community, to share knowledge openly and responsibly, to foster collaboration, and to ensure that emerging technologies are developed and applied with conscience. These aims are not pursued in isolation. They are sustained by a web of relationships—of trust, mentorship and friendship—that connect people across disciplines and generations.

Indeed, one of the society’s quiet strengths has always been the spirit of friendship among those in the field. Through formal meetings and informal conversations, joint projects, and shared aspirations, we have created a space where professional excellence is deepened by mutual respect and personal connection. These bonds make our work more meaningful—and more human.

As president, I feel both honoured and humbled to serve this community. I am committed to listening, learning and supporting the continued growth of human genetics in Thailand. Together we will deepen our local, regional and international collaborations, encourage the next generation and contribute thoughtfully to the broader scientific and social landscape.
